Rob Vaughn
Anchor / Reporter |
|
Rob Vaughn has
been an anchor of the Emmy-winning 69 News on WFMZ-TV since 1987.
Rob has earned two Philadelphia region Emmy nominations in the News
Anchor category and holds a number of other broadcast journalism awards.
Rob is also a writer, speaker and musician and -- most important to him
-- a husband and father. He and his wife Angela live in Bucks County.
They have three grown children.
Before joining WFMZ, Rob worked for many years in radio, including
stints with Associated Press Radio in Washington and WIP-AM in
Philadelphia. Rob has also narrated network TV documentaries on the
Discovery Channel, the History Channel, and A & E.
Rob’s essays have appeared in the Allentown Morning Call, the New York
Post, the Philadelphia Daily News, BreakPoint Online, and elsewhere. He
especially enjoys writing on culture, family, and faith. Rob has
graduate degrees in theology and serves as a leader in his church. His
undergraduate studies were at Temple University (go Owls!). And he's a
1975 graduate of Summit High School in Summit, N.J. (go Hilltoppers!)
The Vaughn's are a media family. Rob's son Jim works in the WFMZ sports
department. Rob's brother Mike works for CNBC and their father, now
retired, was a well-known radio news voice in New York and Philadelphia
– and a great mentor and example.
Some of you have heard Rob's family harmonize. Since the kids were
young, the family has sung as the "Vaughn Five," a vocal group
specializing in gospel and pop a cappella music. They've sung at many
area churches, at Bethlehem's Stabler Arena, and at Allentown's Mayfair
Festival. (For those seeking booking information: you can ask -- email
Rob at robv@wfmz.com -- but the group is more or less in retirement!)
Rob also writes contemporary worship music used in his church.
Among Rob's favorite things: Coffee (cream and sugar), biblical
theology, the music of Chicago (one day Rob will pick up his trombone
again and play along), the amazing vocal music of Glad, Temple U.
sports, ice cream, Cape May, tennis, and spending time with Angela.
